The 60-second voice-to-estimate workflow for contractors
How to describe a job out loud so AI generates a clean, sendable estimate on the first try — with a script you can steal.
Voice-to-estimate only saves time if the AI gets the estimate right on the first pass. The trick is a short, structured script.
The script
State the trade, the job, the scope, the materials, and the customer context. Example: "Painting job. Interior, two bedrooms and a hallway, roughly 800 square feet of wall. Two coats of eggshell, customer supplies paint color choice. One day of prep, one day of paint. Repeat customer, quote $1,800 target."
That single sentence gives the AI everything it needs: trade, surface area, coats, labor days, and a price anchor.
Add anything unusual last: "Ceiling has a water stain that needs stain-block primer. Add 30 minutes."
Why this works
Then review the line items. Editing three fields is faster than typing an estimate from scratch.
Structured input beats long ramble. AI models are pattern matchers — feed them the pattern and the output is clean.
The 60-second target is realistic: 20 seconds to record, 15 seconds to process, 25 seconds to review and send.
